DEF Board of Trustees

The DEF Board of Trustees is made up of volunteers from the Duxbury community who are elected by the members of the DEF Board to serve three-year terms. The Board meets monthly to plan fundraising events and to review educational grants for consideration.

Trustee Responsibilities

As a volunteer organization, the Trustees of DEF are expected to dedicate their time and energy consistently throughout their three-year term. Trustees serve in one or more of the following roles:  

  • Officer: President, Vice President, Treasurer, or Secretary.
  • Supporting Roles: Sponsorship, Publicity/Community Outreach, Grant Review, Graphic Design, Webmaster, or Social Media Administrator.
  • Committee Member: Each committee typically consists of Trustees who take on different leadership or co-leadership roles over their term—shadowing in the first year, coordinating in the second, and mentoring in the third—while planning and executing DEF fundraisers, events, and initiatives. Current committees include July 4th Road Race, Polar Plunge, Answer the Call Annual Appeal, Holly Days and community events.


Trustees are expected to attend monthly meetings, typically held on the second Tuesday of each month 
at 7:30 PM, to plan events, organize fundraisers and review grant requests as a Board. In addition, Trustees show support by attending DEF sponsored initiativesWe deeply appreciate the ongoing commitment of DEF alumni since 1989!
