Anti-Discrimination Policy
ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES ON NOVEMBER 11, 2014
The Duxbury Education Foundation, Inc. does not and shall not discriminate based on race, color, religion, gender, gender identity, gender expression, age, national origin, disability, marital status, sexual orientation or military status, or any other protected status under State or Federal laws or regulations, in any of its activities or operations. These activities include, but are not limited to, hiring, and firing of staff, selection of volunteers and vendors, grantmaking and provision of services. We are committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of the DEF community.
Confidentiality Policy
It is the policy of the Duxbury Education Foundation that board members and volunteers of the Duxbury Education Foundation will not disclose confidential information belonging to or obtained through their affiliation with the Duxbury Education Foundation to any person, including their relatives, friends, and business and professional associates, unless the Duxbury Education Foundation has authorized disclosure. Authorization is granted by the president only. This policy is not intended to prevent disclosure where disclosure is required by law.
Confidential information is information that reveals individual donor contributions, donor history, volunteer performance, contact information, or any other information which could be considered sensitive.
Board members and volunteers are cautioned to demonstrate professionalism, good judgment, and care to avoid unauthorized or inadvertent disclosures of confidential information and should, for example, refrain from leaving confidential information contained in documents or on computer screens in plain view and should exercise caution when discussing the Foundation and its donors with people not currently serving on the board.
At the end of a board member’s term, he or she shall return or destroy all documents, papers, and other materials that may contain confidential information.
Failure to adhere to this policy will result in discipline, up to and including separation of service with the Duxbury Education Foundation.
Code of Ethics
I. PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL INTEGRITY
All Trustees of the Duxbury Education Foundation (DEF) act with honesty, integrity, and openness whenever they represent the organization. DEF promotes a working environment that values respect, fairness, and integrity.
II. PURPOSE
DEF has a clearly stated purpose as set forth in the By-Laws of the Duxbury Education Foundation, Inc. All its programs support that purpose, and all who work on behalf of DEF understand and are loyal to this underlying mission.
III. PRIVACY AND CONFIDENTIALITY
DEF Trustees handle personal data gleaned from meetings, grant processes, donation collection and other DEF activities responsibly and confidentially.
IV. CONFLICT OF INTEREST
DEF Trustees will avoid any conflicts of interest in which they or immediate family members would benefit from their position with DEF.
V. RECORD KEEPING
DEF Trustees will keep honest, accurate and detailed records in order that the DEF may make responsible business decisions.
VI. COMPLIANCE WITH LAWS, RULES AND REGULATIONS
DEF Trustees will comply with all laws, rules, and regulations applicable to the Duxbury Education Foundation.
VII. FAILURE TO COMPLY
Failure to comply with laws and regulations governing DEF activities may result in removal from the Board of Trustees, as set forth in the By-Laws of the Duxbury Education Foundation, Inc.
