STUDENT LED GRANTS

Thank you for your interest in applying for a grant with Duxbury Education Foundation. Please note that the application window for this school year has now closed. We encourage you to stay tuned for future opportunities in the 2025-2026 school year. Please email questions to DuxburyEducation@gmail.com Thank you!

Are you a Duxbury student with a creative, innovative idea that could improve your school and educational experience? We want to make it a reality and it's easy to get started!

This is a great opportunity to think creatively, develop innovative solutions, and gain experience developing and presenting a proposal to improve your educational experience. We invite Duxbury High School, Duxbury Middle School and Alden School students (individually or as a group) to submit ideas for consideration. All ideas, large or small, are welcome!

Steps to Submit Your Idea
1) Identify a problem or need in your school. Discuss your idea with a teacher or member of the Duxbury Public School Staff and request they join you as a sponsor.

2) Set up a time to discuss your idea with a member of the DEF Grant Committee.

3) The student(s) and a member of the DEF Grant Committee will meet for 15-30 minutes to discuss the idea (ex. phone call, Zoom/Google Meet or in-person). Please be prepared to answer the following questions:

  • Describe your idea for a student-led grant.
  • What experience or observation sparked your idea?
  • Who will benefit from your proposed idea?
  • Why are you excited about this project?
  • How is your idea innovative or creative?
  • What is the timeline for implementing your idea (immediately, a few months, next year?)
  • Do you have an estimate of how much it would cost to implement your idea?

4) The DEF Grant Committee may request the student(s) work on the idea further and have another meeting OR the students may give the go-ahead to submit a detailed Grant Application

5) The Grant Application will be reviewed by the DEF Board of Trustees for approval. Please see this example application of an approved Student Led Grant and the Student Led Grant Criteria listed below as references. The applicant(s) will be informed if the grant has been approved within 4 weeks of the final, detailed application being submitted.
